Tie Wire, comprising 18-gauge galvanized soft annealed wire, plays a crucial role in drywall and plaster construction. It’s employed to secure furring channels to main runner U-channels, fasten metal lath to channels in plaster construction, attach expansion/control joints to lath, and tie the lath overlap between rows of fasteners. Please note that using 18-gauge tie wire for suspension purposes is not recommended.
